A Little Giant Dog
Pomeranians,
which are a small breed among dogs, are very silly. Their size is like that of
a toy dog. It cannot run fast and you don¡¯t feel any pain when it bites you,
like a mosquito bite. It doesn¡¯t give you any sting or run fast because of its
short legs. But it is bold and courageous enough to bark at anything, and
anyone who comes at them without any fear. It¡¯s not even a level of just acting
up, but it really comes at the other one for a real fight.
Normal
or very wild dogs do know their place and bark and only come at the opponent
they can handle, but if they admit that the opponent is stronger than they are,
they slowly avoid them and just drop their tails to protect themselves.
Nowadays, people produce certain breeds that they want, regardless of purebred
or original, by mixing several breeds according to their environment or own
purposes. These breeds are usually called designer dogs. If these newly bred
dogs become popular, and given a valid ground for its making, they are produced
largely thus after a few generations they would be registered as purebreds
according to size and colors. One of the dogs that made it through this process
is the Pomeranians. These dogs have not lived in the wilderness and wouldn¡¯t
even be able to survive there even for a day. Though they do not belong to the
wilderness, these kinds of dogs are kings in the houses where they live with
their owners. Even when they come out to the street, they bark freely since
they are confident that their owner next to them would fight for and at least
protect them against big dogs.
When
I learned a little more about this little fighter Pomeranian that messes with
other dogs without fear but with loud barking, I was really surprised.
Unexpectedly, this breed was made by mixing purebreds like the Alaskan Malamute (a sledding Husky shepherd dog) and a Chinese Chow Chow. Namely, this dog was made small to be a toy dog, but
its behavior and character reflect its great bloodline and features as a
fighting and tireless dog.
Today¡¯s
Christians live powerless lives. To maintain a social life, they have to attend
social gatherings where people drink even though they do not drink and have to
do things they do not want to because of pressure. Instead of saying no boldly,
they are drawn to the situation unwillingly because they fear what others would
think of them. On the contrary, they lose a chance to do things they want to do
in trying to read others¡¯ moods. I¡¯m not saying believers should bother others
through noise pollution, as they do when they praise and witness to people
regardless of the place. However, they shouldn¡¯t be like Jonas who couldn¡¯t speak
a word about the method Jesus taught us or the words he told us to preach but
run away and hide, either. Why should they make a big deal out of drinking one
cup while they do it in secret? Can they just drink a glass of wine or beer
with their meal and then live as passionate Christians? When making an
important decision why should they try to assess their boss or employees¡¯ mood
when they need to push it forward if it is a good decision?
Pomeranians
keep the blood of a fighting dog and stamina built of pulling heavy loads,
struggling against snowstorms, according to the purpose of their making instead
of following the rule of survival of the fittest. Added to this, they live
boldly based on their faith that their master would protect them from the attack
of other dogs. The people of the Old Testament made lots of efforts to achieve
salvation with their own strength and efforts, but nobody could do it
perfectly. But we people in the New Testament times, though we also need our
own effort and deeds, only need our Lord who would protect, guide, and
eventually lead us to salvation. Since Jesus our Lord is with us, we can act
boldly handling things calmly, without any confusion, no matter how big the
problems or trials are which come to us.
The
lyrics of the song my church praise leader chose during the early morning
service the other day is still ringing in my ears. ¡°We are weak but he is
strong. Yes Jesus loves me, Yes Jesus loves me, Yes Jesus loves me¡¦the Bible
tells me so.¡± What good is it even if one attended church for decades if he
lives so powerless? Why do believers live in this world so powerlessly, when
ruffians who do not believe in Jesus enjoy it so much as they do whatever they
want to do? Isn¡¯t it because they have not yet tasted of Jesus, his authority?
Or isn¡¯t it because they do not read the Bible that explains all about his
power? Therefore, if true
Christians who read the Bible right and experience the power of Jesus live
passionately and excitedly, wouldn¡¯t the world that watches it follow them? I
can only imagine¡¦
